Jianggu Tenwu is a second-year student at Teitan High School who spends his days obsessing over video games. In one online game, he meets the rival fate has chosen for him.
His twin brother Jianggu Rei, who is in the same class, is always afraid he won't get into college. But Tenwu is great at last-minute cramming, and every time, he scrapes through his exams thanks to Jianggu Rei's crash-course tutoring.
Lately, though, a voice has been appearing in his head, claiming to be the System. It keeps telling him to complete all sorts of strange missions and promising to show him a manga when he does.
Tenwu is baffled. He already has a huge pile of manga, so he isn't particularly interested in that one.
That is, until the System shows him a picture: the death of a manga character.
The person in the picture is his childhood friend, Morofushi Hiromitsu.
Matsuda Jinpei is a second-year student at Toto University Affiliated High School. Recently, he has become hopelessly addicted to an online game set in another world, staying up late for several nights in a row to level up so he can face his destined rival in battle.
Recently, something claiming to be the System has suddenly started shouting in his head every day, boasting that it has manga that can predict the future. If he obediently completes its missions, it'll let him read them.
Matsuda Jinpei thinks it's ridiculous. He has to make his own future, so what's the point of learning about it in advance?
That is, until the System gives him a picture of a manga character beside a bomb with its countdown at zero.
It's his childhood friend, Hagiwara Kenji.
And so the System cheerfully issues a mission:
[Make peace with your rival!]
Tenwu grits his teeth, admits defeat, and asks for a truce.
[Prepare a heartfelt gift for him!]
Matsuda Jinpei uses his nimble fingers to shape a lumpy, oddly formed piece of chocolate and tuck it into a gift box.
As more manga scenes are unlocked, the missions get more and more outrageous, and the only way to complete them is by sheer determination.
[Meet up.] [Hold hands.] [Hug for one minute.]
Tenwu flings the dozens of pages of manga he earned by sacrificing his good name onto the ground. "Why not start drawing from the Big Bang?"
Where's my Hiro? Why is it all about elementary schoolers solving crimes? This is a scam! An outright scam!
1. Tenwu, the protagonist of my series I'm a Spy, but I Live in a Six-Person Dorm at the Police Academy, appears here under the same name. The two works are separate, and the settings differ, so you can read this without having read the previous story.
2. A lighthearted, fun story mainly about Tenwu and Matsuda in high school, with the romance as the focus. The fight against the Organization gets only a brief mention.
3. Of course, the pairing is Matsuda.
4. The premise may change before the story begins!
