This is a romantic and absurd story sparked by “her biological father, stepmother, and her stepmother's ex-husband all going to prison.” As a result, she ends up living with her stepmother's “beautiful but aloof son from her first marriage, whom she hasn't seen in eight hundred years,” raising her stepmother's brand-new second child, and working hard to pay wages to the nanny-landlady. Together, they make money, fall in love, and explore the world.
