The man, no longer trembling, stared at the boy for a long time before leaving. At last, he said those words.
Wuyin Ling rubbed his aching chest. "Don't go! What am I supposed to do if you leave?"

Under the beautiful dusk sky, the golden-haired boy's face was tinted orange-red. If he could, he wished time would stop forever at that moment.
Wuyin Ling burst into tears. "You absolutely can't go out tomorrow!"
The boy froze. "...Huh?"

Wuyin Ling gritted his teeth as he clutched the System's interface. If he couldn't save him, he'd lie down and die right alongside him.
He'd barely enjoyed a few good days while alive anyway. If he was going to die, he might as well make it a lively affair.
Reader notes:
- Mutual salvation in the literal sense
- No central pairing in the main story, but there are romantic storylines
- Lots of original worldbuilding, and the timeline is chaotic
- You could call it a rescue story. The protagonist would die if no one saved him, after all
