A Miaojiang shadow guard is assigned to protect Princess Jiang Yumeng in the Yu Kingdom's palace.

The mysterious young man, skilled in the art of Gu, often infuriates Jiang Yumeng. She can't help but marvel that this shadow guard dares to act more high and mighty than his master. At one point, she even wants to send him back to Miaojiang, telling him to go back where he came from.

But little by little, she realizes that although the young man has a strange personality, he has a handsome face, with red lips, pearly teeth, and elegant, refined features. Most importantly, he always saves her in a crisis. She lowers her gaze and smiles, feeling her heart stir.

Ten miles of wedding finery, music and song in a golden mansion. Jiang Yumeng finally gets her wish and marries the young man. Just as she drinks the nuptial wine, believing they can grow old together, blood suddenly spills from her lips. Someone has poisoned the wine.

She stares in disbelief at the culprit, her new husband, and struggles to ask through trembling lips, "Tell me why."

A chilling killing intent suddenly surfaces in the young man's unfathomable eyes, making her blood run cold.

He removes his disguise to reveal his true face, then bends down and grips Jiang Yumeng's chin, whispering in a low voice by her ear:

"Do you remember me, Your Highness the Princess?"

Zhaoyue's breath catches. She shakes her head again and again. "I didn't see anything."

The young man sneers and points his sword at her. "Are you sure?"

Zhaoyue stands still, her dirty little face full of terror, like a startled fawn.

The young man pauses for a moment, then actually lowers his sword and watches her with interest. "Then I won't kill you."

"But you have to come with me."

He turns and disappears into the night.

Yun Qi is an assassin. He has no parents, no family, and no one to rely on. Only when he grips the sword in his hand does he feel a little at ease.
