Novel Blurb:
Everyone in the industry praises Yang Yi. He's handsome, dedicated, a workaholic with real talent, and warm and easy to get along with.
But after winning his second Best Actor award, Yang Yi announced that he was going to make a movie, leaving industry insiders shaking their heads in dismay.
And for his first film, he invited Tan Yiqing to play the male lead.
Tan Yiqing could hardly believe it when he heard.
Everyone in the industry knew Yang Yi had never received formal training and had barely gone to school. Before he turned sixteen, he did odd jobs in the kitchen of a factory. At nineteen, he shot to fame playing an idiot. Even though he was now a completely different person, no one really believed he could make a good movie.
But Tan Yiqing went anyway, because his company said, "Get close to him! Even the publicity alone is worth riding on!"
Fine, he'd ride on that publicity.
So Tan Yiqing went all in.
On set, when Yang Yi's throat was hoarse, Tan Yiqing put a throat lozenge on his lunch box at every meal.
When it rained, he draped his own coat over Yang Yi, and the two of them ran back to the hotel from the set together.
When he got hurt filming, he told his mother, "You should show Yang Yi some concern too. He hasn't had a mother in a long time."
All his care and kindness earned him only a cold remark from Yang Yi: "Tan Yiqing, stay away from me."
Tan Yiqing was baffled. Even so, he kept hovering around Yang Yi, trying to figure out why. He was confident he couldn't possibly be annoying.
And he was right: Yang Yi told him, "You're straight. You shouldn't lead me on and make me fall for you."
Tan Yiqing: "..."
On the night the film's reviews came out, Yang Yi held Tan Yiqing and softly called him Qingqing.
Then Yang Yi said, "Don't listen to what they say. I'll make sure you win Best Actor. It'll be my gift to you for your thirty-first birthday."
