Rumors have recently been swirling in high society. It is said that the head of the Xi family bid a staggering sum at a Sotheby's auction for a ruby worth tens of millions, then gave it to an unknown young woman.
Not long afterward, the Liang family's daughter married into the Xi family of Hong Kong. Some people in their circle said that the girl had come from a remote mountain village and probably wouldn't get far.
Liang Shu first met Xi Jinan in a run-down village. His extraordinary bearing captivated her, and she fell for him. Even then, she could guess that the difference in their status was too great. When she finally gathered the courage to confess, one glance from him frightened her into silence.
She met Xi Jinan again at an exhibition in Hong Kong, showcasing the final work of an elderly artist. As the curator, she stood onstage introducing the event, while he sat in the upper gallery, his expression more reserved and composed than before.
Someone beside him mentioned her. He continued pouring tea, his eyes not even glancing in her direction.
Few people would ever know that in those unspoken years, he had called her by her childhood nickname over and over again.
"Liang Shu, this is Mr. Xi. Before he took over the family business years ago, his reputation in the industry was no less than yours is today."
A moment later, the man deigned to greet her first. "Hello, Miss Liang."
In one earth-shattering second, perhaps they both knew the phrase "under a spell."
Xi Jinan never considered himself a particularly tender man, but he had fallen for this woman twice.
When Liang Shu approached him again, it wasn't initially for fame or fortune. She only wanted a little help getting by. For the first time, the proud woman wept in front of him.
With a helpless sigh, he pulled her to her feet, while Liang Shu still couldn't stop thinking about investment in her hometown.
"Fine, I'll invest. Happy now, darling?"

[Coming Soon: Spring Will Come Next Year]
Spring came a little later than usual in 2010. Li Qingshi spotted him at a glance in the crowd.
The spring night was quiet, and her love went unspoken.
For years afterward, whenever she told anyone about those days, she would only smile briefly, as if the story were nothing special.
