[A variety-show regular determined to make herself familiar x a born star who gets more popular the more he lays low]
Yan Tian, who relied on variety shows to get her face out there, was mocked across the internet after a malicious edit. After a year without acting work, she unexpectedly got a new opportunity.
What she didn't expect was...
The male lead was Qin Yi, the hot new star who'd been gaining momentum lately.
He was also her co-star from three years ago, when they almost fell for each other on set.
But this time,
he was the male lead, and she was only a supporting actress.
*
Qin Yi fought his way through a controversial drama thanks to his looks and formidable talent.
Attention came at him from every direction, but he still did things his own way. He wouldn't promote a CP or get involved in rumors, and even earned a reputation as someone destined to be single forever.
A popular ensemble xianxia IP was about to get a remake. As soon as Qin Yi was announced as the male lead, doubts began to surface. An opposing fan group, trying to keep him from rising in popularity, released behind-the-scenes photos of Qin Yi and Yan Tian from three years ago while his drama was airing.
In the photos, Qin Yi was gripping the back of Yan Tian's collar, his expression unusually stern. People with an agenda jumped to conclusions and twisted the story, calling it on-set bullying. Overnight, it was trending.
Online reactions were sharply divided. Some accused Qin Yi of throwing his weight around, while others mocked Yan Tian for staging it herself.
The controversy kept growing.
At the time, the two people involved were filming a variety show based on the drama. Paparazzi and fans were waiting around, but instead they caught a scene that looked exactly like the one from three years earlier.
Qin Yi's antis got excited.
Just as they were about to pile on, a video with both sound and picture suddenly spread all over the internet.
The scene looked the same, but the conversation was completely different.
Yan Tian: Why do you always grab my clothes?
Qin Yi: Why don't you ask yourself why you hide from me as soon as you see me? You do it now, and you did it three years ago too. Yan Tian, do you hate me that much?
Fans and bystanders alike exploded.
What was going on?!
What happened to him throwing his weight around? What happened to her staging it herself?
Well, no wonder the antis only dared to release photos. If they'd posted the video, they would've been exposed in a second.
Little bonus scene:
#CP fans going wild#
"Here's a little detail that's so sweet. His Weibo username is Qin Yi YT. Why YT and not TY? Friends, think about it. Think it over carefully!!"
"YT stands for Yan Tian!!"
"Oh my god, ahhhhh! Tian and Yi just scored a massive win!!"
"Qin Yi, don't you dare love her any more than this!!!"
[YT is rainy weather; TY is sunshine]
There's a weather phenomenon called a sunshower. It doesn't happen often.
So far, Yan Tian has seen it only twice.
Once when she first met Qin Yi.
Once when Qin Yi confessed to her.
