Cao Rui: The Four Seas (Three Kingdoms)

Before he turned twenty-three, Cao Rui thought his greatest skills were keeping out of harm's way amid disaster and adversity while bearing the most prestigious identity in the eyes of the world, and deftly maintaining his distance from Cao Pi amid their strained father-son relationship. The most perilous day of his life was the night his gravely ill father summoned him from Ye to Luoyang by handwritten decree, naming him Crown Prince.

As night fell, danger lurked everywhere, all aimed at him.

At the city gate, he encountered a fugitive, a woman. She caught sight of his face in the last of the daylight, her eyes lit up, and she claimed they were a pair of lovers caught up in misfortune. Just like that, she talked their way out of Ye. He played along and, after narrowly escaping death, made it back to Luoyang.

After his cheap father died, Cao Rui refused to attend the funeral and stayed in his mother's palace, vowing that from the moment he became emperor, he would fulfill every wish of his own.

For example: honor his birth mother posthumously, give the people a chance to recover, unify the realm, and achieve everlasting glory...

And find that fugitive.

Then, in the very next moment, she appeared before him.

Many years later, he finally realized that this was the time Heaven had most favored his wishes.
