The Adoptive Father's Inheritance

Shang Tingzhou first met Jiang Yuetang at the banquet for his adoptive father's fortieth birthday.

He heard that Jiang Yuetang was a songbird his adoptive father had bought from Shanghai's bustling foreign concessions, and that he was not only beautiful but also gentle and obedient.

Most importantly, he knew how to please people, and could bring the old master back to life when he was all but spent.

One evening, Shang Tingzhou took a ledger to his adoptive father's study. Before he could knock, he heard a tearful voice begging for mercy.

Peering through the crack in the door, he saw his adoptive father's songbird trembling as he lay across the desk, his back covered in whip marks.

Shang Tingzhou watched for a while and was about to leave when he accidentally met Jiang Yuetang's gaze.

Those limpid, soulful peach-blossom eyes were brimming with tenderness.

So he really could bring a man back to life.

Later, after his adoptive father passed away, Shang Tingzhou became the head of the Shang family.

He naturally inherited everything the family owned.

Including that beautiful canary.

Outsiders never knew that Master Shang had been angered to death.

When he was gravely ill, Jiang Yuetang, who had always been gentle and obedient, was held in his adopted son's arms. The adulterous pair brazenly appeared right in front of him.

“Father, Yuetang is pregnant.” Shang Tingzhou gently rested a hand on Jiang Yuetang's belly, his tone perfectly calm. “The child is mine.”

“Everything you once wanted to do but couldn't, your son has done for you.”

“I cherish him more than you ever did.”

Note:

● The protagonist is a virgin. He never had sex with the old man. The old man was impotent, simple as that.

● Immoral romance.

● Republican-era setting, old-school tastes, outrageous melodrama. Proceed with caution.
