During the Zhongyuan era, the Dream-Weaving Master Qi Ming and his direct disciple Jiu Meng were pursued by an unknown enemy in the martial world. In the end, Qi Ming chose to die alongside his enemy in Jian'an City. His disciple Jiu Meng obtained the sole surviving manual of his master's Dream-Weaving art, then vanished from the martial world. No one knew where she had gone.

For years, Jiu Meng made a name for herself in the martial world with the peerless art of Dream-Weaving. In truth, she was only a half-trained Dream-Weaver, living off the meager silver her master had left behind. Five years later, she returned to Jian'an City.

While paying her respects to her master, Jiu Meng used the pretext of searching for silver to approach Xue Qing, the leader of the Martial Alliance.

Anyone who saw Jiu Meng, with her profound inner power and skill at disguise, would think she was a martial arts master. In reality, she was all show, weighed down by memory loss and headaches.

But just after she reemerged, the mysterious sect Jiuxian Residence used a scheme to summon her. She was also harmed by an obsessive woman and poisoned with a Gu, drawing her into a web of martial-world conspiracies.

As the Central Plains and Liaobei vied for supremacy, all manner of grudges from the martial world and matters of the heart came rushing in. Jiu Meng and her childhood companion Ju Chan, now the master of Jiuxian Residence, became entangled in conflicts involving the martial world, national enmity, and family feuds.
