Hero, Part-Time Villain

[Due to recent issues related to the original work, this story has changed its premise. Thank you so much for your interest. Feel free to save or unsave it, and I'm truly sorry!] I'm a hero. Well... I'm a villain now. I have a childhood friend who is a hero, and I'm about to go cause him a little trouble under the cover of night. After all, I'm his dedicated villain, the kind who even helps him rescue people now and then. He's kind, righteous, and gentle. He idolizes Ows, the world-famous leader of heroes, and aside from breaking my ribs, he never wants to hurt anyone. He says, "I don't understand why you're a villain." I say, "Work's been stressful, so I wanted to get out and unwind. You said I could come to you anytime." He looks at me sadly for a long time. "Can you tell me the truth? You're not like this." I reply, "That's because you never really understood me." How much do you really know about me? If I put on a mask and disguise myself, acting like all the heroes and villains who don't want their identities exposed, would you still recognize me? As usual, we part on bad terms. Morning comes. Time to go to work. I switch accounts, put on a mask and a cape as usual, and start an ordinary day as the hero Ows. Yeah, I said it. Work is stressful. The Earth is exploding, villains are causing trouble, aliens are invading, a bunch of twenty-four-hour troublemaking machines called heroes keep making messes for me to clean up, and my childhood friend keeps showing up with stars in his eyes. I'm under a lot of pressure. Why am I a villain? Well... it's better if he doesn't find out. The Earth faces an apocalyptic crisis. Some extremist heroes decide to kill all the villains to deal with the enemy. But their plan is thwarted by a little-known villain. "W-wait! You can't kill me. If I die, then the cosmic battlefield over there will also..." "What do you mean? Which villain are you..." The hero realizes what's going on. "Which villain are you the real identity of?" Which villain am I the real identity of? Good question. But I'm not the real identity of a villain. I'm the real identity of your leader, the hero... Just then, my childhood friend speaks up. "Don't kill him. There's no way he's connected to those villains." Thank goodness, I think. What a longtime frie He says, "The facts suggest the exact opposite. He's the real identity of a hero." Me: . I look away. "So you're actually a hero, but you've been pretending to be a villain and fighting me this whole time..." "Let me explain..." "Who are you, really?!" No, no, no. Forget all that. Shouldn't we be dealing with Earth's crisis first? Save the Earth! Earth, save me! Theme: Better to move forward decisively than hesitate
