Jiang Shu transmigrated into a danmei novel on a certain website. The story's protagonist was a total heartthrob, attracting all kinds of bizarre and twisted pursuers.
He became the original character, one of the protagonist's many admirers who had somehow gotten lucky enough to become his cultivation partner. In the middle of the story, after the protagonist repeatedly treated him coldly, the original character grew resentful out of love and prepared to force himself on him, only to get killed by the protagonist with a dagger.
Jiang Shu arrived at a rather strange moment: a meal he'd cooked for the protagonist was laid out in front of him, and he was holding a drugged drink.
To stay alive, Jiang Shu carried his sword over to the protagonist. "Sorry. I tried to fall for you, but in the end, I realized..." He paused, gazing at the sword in his arms with tender devotion. "I love my wife the most."
"?"
Hidden inside his sleeve, the protagonist's hand paused around the dagger.
The protagonist: I don't believe you!
Jiang Shu: From then on, he never let his sword leave his side. At banquets, he even sat on it... He looked at the sword with more devotion than he ever showed the protagonist.
But his twisted rivals still saw him as a thorn in their side.
It would be hard to get out of this alive without faking his death.
Except Jiang Shu misjudged things, and really died.
Back in the real world, Jiang Shu looked at the novel, now rewritten, and fell into deep thought.
After his fake death went wrong, his wife killed all his rivals.
