Gender-Swapped Dream of the Red Chamber

Under clear skies, Fairy Jing Huan ordered the Department of Fated Lives to bring out the registers of the Twelve Beauties of Jinling to air them in the sun. Who could have known that an evil wind would blow in from beyond the heavens?

It affected the world of Dream of the Red Chamber, causing all of the Twelve Beauties of Jinling to switch genders.

Ten years later

Lin, a gifted scholar from Gusu, traveled to the capital to sit the imperial examinations, hoping to earn the title of third-place graduate once again.

Xue, a wealthy merchant from Jinling, inherited the family business in a time of crisis. While caring for his elderly mother and frail older sister, he built the family firm into the foremost imperial merchant house in the south. Now he was heading north to expand his trade.

On the road, the two met General Wang, the eldest nephew of Wang Ziteng, who had patrolled the border for nine years. He had been a fierce warrior since childhood and rose through the ranks alongside his uncle through military merit.

In the capital there was also Minister Yuanchun, who had served as a prince's companion since childhood and was now a minister; young Marquis Shi, whose parents died when he was an infant and who inherited his title through the emperor's compassion; and Tanchun, who was away pursuing her studies and seeking to make a name for herself.

There was also the pampered little sister Jia Baoyu, born with a jade in her mouth.

At last, the immortal sent by Fairy Jing Huan arrived, hoping to set everything back on the right track. He asked Baoyu, "Would you choose to be a girl or a boy?"

Baoyu: Girls are made of water. Boys, back off, back off, back off.

The immortal: "But if you become a girl, they'll all be busy with their own careers. If you stay a boy, they'll all be stuck in the Grand View Garden, keeping you company."

Baoyu: I'm tempted.

The immortal gave him a mirror: look at the front, and you'll be a boy; look at the back, and you'll be a girl.
