In the first decade and more of Koyama Natsu's life, she learned one thing: no one would choose her wholeheartedly, not even her parents.

She was afraid of being abandoned, so she made a decision: before anyone else could leave her, she would leave them first.

That's why, when Ryoma told her that if she wanted to play in the next doubles match with him, she'd have to beat another girl, Koyama Natsu realized their feelings weren't equal.

After becoming Ryoma's partner, she'd never considered playing doubles with anyone but him.

But Ryoma had never thought his doubles partner would always be the same person.

Ryoma was taking tennis and his matches seriously. She understood and respected how much tennis meant to him. In competitive sports, being bad at the game is a sin.

But she didn't want to be an option someone might choose or pass over. She didn't want to live in constant anxiety every day. She didn't want to struggle in the quagmire of wondering whether she would be replaced.

Waiting for someone else to decide is truly agonizing.

So Koyama Natsu chose to leave.

.

A few years later, Ryoma became a rising star in world tennis, and Koyama Natsu, who had once been afraid of attention, became a top-tier star.

After an unexpected reunion on a variety show, Koyama Natsu greeted him with polite distance. "Coach Echizen."

Ryoma: "..."

Great. He'd been provoked.

Friendly Reminder:

1. Natsu has some mental health issues. After suffering some setbacks, she becomes a little depressed and anxious, but she'll recover later. Please read with caution if this isn't for you.

2. Ryoma didn't do anything wrong. He really is taking his matches seriously. Because of her mental health issues, Natsu truly couldn't accept Ryoma looking for a new partner, so she chose to leave politely and take some time away to focus on her health.

3. Dating means arguing, hehehe.

4. Update schedule: once every one to two days. A traditional happy ending.

Why did the young master of the Zoldyck family run off too?
