[Next up: My Master Is a Samoyed] Please add it to your reading list! (Blurb at the very end)
[Main story complete, bonus chapters in progress, finished on April 17]
Qiao Muxin is an obscure food-review blogger with a million followers. His daily work consists of eating and drinking, visiting restaurants, and promoting products.
One day, at a high-end dessert shop, he took a bite of a 68-yuan soufflé so cloyingly sweet that his face twisted. He posted a scathing review on Weibo:
“My insulin is about to stop working. It feels like the French are trying to rob me with a bag of white sugar.”
A refined-looking man nearby reminded him, “That’s how the most authentic French desserts are supposed to taste.”
Qiao Muxin: “Who are you? And who gave you the right to tell me how to eat?”
Chu Wei replied calmly, “I own this shop.”
Qiao Muxin: “...”
Qiao Muxin’s shop-review video went viral. From then on, rumors spread that he and Chu Wei couldn’t stand each other.
Some people even claimed to have witnessed the two of them going head-to-head on their Moments:
Qiao Muxin: Have you ever considered tweaking those foreign products you make...?
Chu Wei: I use the finest ingredients.
Qiao Muxin: Those flavors might not suit Chinese people’s Chinese stomachs...
Chu Wei: I use the finest techniques.
Qiao Muxin: ...And they’re way too expensive.
Chu Wei: My desserts are worth it.
Qiao Muxin: Fine. I respect your choice. Best of luck.
Half a year later, business at the high-end dessert shop was struggling, and Chu Wei had no choice but to go home and take over the family business.
The family business consisted mainly of dozens of cake shop chains. They cared more about supply chains and recipes than taste.
Chu Wei’s first lesson in running the family business was to acquire the recipe for an “Apple Basque Cheesecake” from an independent bakery, so they could develop a signature product.
Chu Wei waited and waited, but the shop owner never showed. Instead, he ran into the last person he wanted to see.
Qiao Muxin: “Boss Chu, I told you that showing off would be the death of you. You wouldn’t listen.”
Chu Wei: “Sorry, who are you?”
Qiao Muxin: “I own this private bakery.”
Chu Wei: “...?”
Qiao Muxin smiled sweetly. “The Apple Basque Cheesecake is my creation. Want the recipe? Easy. Agree to three conditions, and I’ll think about it.”
My Master Is a Samoyed
Ye Lingzhou is a demon cultivator who has mingled among the various immortal sects.
Abilities: fluffy and soft, loves to eat, smiles whenever trouble strikes.
He might not be a good-for-nothing, but he’s certainly useless.
Then one day, through a twist of fate, Ye Lingzhou the Samoyed impersonates a nine-tailed fox demon and takes the seat of sect leader at Hengwu Mountain.
As everyone bows and pledges allegiance, the fake sect leader keeps up a calm facade while secretly tensing up
“My tail... Don’t let my tail show!! And my ears, too, QAQ!!”
As time goes on, Ye Lingzhou realizes that impersonating the sect leader is risky, but it feels so good.
He earns the adoration of thousands, gets more pills and snacks than he can eat, and has his pick of all kinds of magical artifacts.
Most importantly, he can take on disciples whenever he wants. Ye Lingzhou gets carried away and takes in several unlucky disciples all at once.
Then one day, he sees a prophecy in the Heaven-Peering Mirror: someone is going to kill the sect leader of Hengwu Mountain.
The assassin will wear a black veil. The only clue is that they’re missing a finger on their left hand.
Ye Lingzhou panics. Afraid of being exposed, he doesn’t dare ask anyone else for help. He grabs a disciple at random and tells him to serve as his bodyguard for now.
The disciple has a very handsome beauty mark beneath his eye. He’s ruthless and taciturn, but utterly reliable.
Ye Lingzhou clings to him, pouring his heart out in a tearful lament.
But as they talk, he glances down and his eyes land on the disciple’s left hand.
The man is missing a finger on his left hand.
Ye Lingzhou breaks into a cold sweat.

P.S. This is the initial blurb. The sect name and the gong and shou’s names may be adjusted slightly, but the premise won’t change. Thank you, dear readers~
