To Avoid Overtime, Win Over the Cold Female Boss

After graduating, Meng Tingyun became a designer at a company specializing in traditional Han clothing. Unfortunately, her boss was a cold beauty who was demanding, strict, and aloof. She had to work overtime all the time, often under a 996 schedule, and it was unbearable. Then one day, she saw a post on the Red Potato app:

"An employee at a certain company confessed to her boss to avoid working overtime. After her confession was rejected, the boss didn't call on her to work overtime for six months."

Suddenly, inspiration struck Meng Tingyun. She had discovered the secret to avoiding overtime.

At meetings, she'd gaze at her boss with deep affection.

At team-building events, she'd shyly fall into her boss's arms.

At work, she'd beam with excitement and loudly announce in front of everyone, "Another day when I get to see my boss!"

At the end of the day, she'd look miserable and cry out under the stunned eyes of her coworkers, "What am I going to do? I won't get to see my boss for another ten hours! I can't breathe in a world without my boss!"

Before long, rumors were flying around the company that the new designer, Meng Tingyun, had been hopelessly in love with the Iceberg Boss for ages.

Then the whole company was stunned to discover that the boss started avoiding calling on her. She never called Meng Tingyun unless she had to, and when she did, she sent someone else to pass on the message. If Meng Tingyun was in the office, the boss never went in. She even kept Meng Tingyun off the overtime roster.

After being dumbstruck for a long time, her coworkers finally caught on.

What unrequited love? This was clearly a diversionary tactic to dodge work!

Meng Tingyun found the method so effective that she honed her skills ever further, working on herself and incorporating fawning over her boss into every second of her workday.

Until one day.

The boss finally relented. "Um... You don't have to come in tomorrow. Take the day off."

The whole company was stunned.

Meng Tingyun had just started to smile when the boss continued.

Boss: "I arranged for movers. Bring your things to my place tomorrow."

Meng Tingyun: "...?"
