System: This job is really simple. You just need to complete each bedtime story and combine them into a new storybook. We'll start with the easiest level.

The first bedtime story is about a wicked stepmother who covets the king's wealth before she even takes the throne and tries to harm the kingdom's heir, the prince, only to be outsmarted and killed by him.

Xue Shu (having finished the story, unable to see which role she could play): So, am I the prince?

System: Nope.

Xue Shu breathed a sigh of relief: That's good. Playing the main character is exhausting.

System: You're the prince's mother.

Xue Shu (her smile gradually vanishing): ? The birth mother who dies young?

System: More or less, except you're the stepmother.

Xue Shu: ? How is that more or less the same?

System: Either way, you die young.

(After arriving in the story instance)

-At the ball-

Xue Shu gazed at the black-haired man before her, handsome as a god. Thinking that she'd have to harm him someday made her feel a little guilty.

Arthur raised his eyes slightly, gazing at the young man who was about to become his stepmother. The malice in his eyes practically overflowed. "With your looks, you'd be very popular in the brothels of the Empire."

Xue Shu: ??? Is that the sort of line you'd expect in a bedtime story?

-Second Bedtime Story-

A story about a wicked, foolish, beautiful fake young master, the bottom, and a slightly sinister real young master, the top.

-Third Bedtime Story-

Literary version: Byron didn't love Xue Shu, his fiancee.

He thought Xue Shu was vain and foolish, empty-headed and no different from those nobles who lived for wine and pleasure.

So he mercilessly cast aside the rose that was about to bloom.

When he returned, he discovered that the rose he had never been able to forget was withering from a lack of love.

The nightingale, who once sang only on summer nights, had fallen silent forever.

The thought nearly stopped Byron from breathing.

He thought, I can't let this rose wither.

Concise version:

A cannon-fodder top who didn't appreciate his spoiled wife when they were young, while his good friend, the real top, tries to steal her away. After losing her, the cannon-fodder top regrets it and furiously tries to steal his friend's wife.

If you're a true friend, come steal her away.

Rebel emperor top (real top) x beautiful, empty-headed, pleasure-seeking bottom x former fiance, a marshal top (now a cannon-fodder character)

Various versions of the top x a beautiful, absent-minded, stupid, spoiled, universally adored bottom (it may not be obvious from the blurb, but he really is universally adored).

Fourth story: A young warlock decides to learn from a famous witch and become a wicked stepmother so he can attend a witches' banquet.

Not sure anyone will read this, but here's a list of content warnings anyway:

1. Because of the original premise, the instances are mostly set in Western courts, but everything is fictional, including clothing, food, buildings, and titles. Don't look for historical accuracy. The author's knowledge of Western courts is limited to fairy tales.

2. In some parts, the bottom wears women's clothes or somewhat androgynous clothing.

3. If you think Instance One has a BE, there are two alternate-universe bonus stories explaining the HE ending, more or less. _(:з)∠)_ (The first bonus story contains a scene where one version of the top forces himself on the bottom, so please check the warnings if needed.)

4. The editors said the original setting didn't quite work, so a lot of details were changed later. There may be contradictions or some very funny parts.

5. Instance Two was rewritten twice, and it still turned out average, as usual. The fourth story is also average.
