After his childhood friend had had enough of dealing with him, Iyomoto Ryu was bundled off into a dimension-hopping game, A Certain Deductive Elementary Schoolboy, as both a player and an NPC.
Half-player means he has to complete his own quests and play the part of a flawless personal butler.
Half-NPC means this butler appears in the game's alternate-storyline route. As a character in the plot, he'll be drawn into the story manga and has to deal with wave after wave of real players, who grow like leeks.
Iyomoto Ryu: ...Whatever.
He has no intention of following the plot. He can just half-heartedly finish the quests, right? Oh, he has to choose the butler's master, too?
From among all the prominent figures, Iyomoto Ryu precisely picks the only one without a family: Old Man Karasuma. And so the game begins.

Later, he understands. The master he'd picked is the head honcho of the Black Organization!
Haibara is trembling because Gin came to deliver some documents.
Amuro Tooru saw Vodka nearby because he was there to chauffeur Gin.
People who leave the castle never live long because the Organization is cleaning house.
The castle keeps ravens representing the Organization, and its wine cellar stores fine wine matched to every code-named member... That part is just a coincidence! A coincidence!
Iyomoto Ryu rubs his forehead. I really just wanted to be an ordinary butler.

Player A: Wasn't the danger rating supposed to be C?! Why does my item say there's a 70% chance this butler will take me out?!
Player B: Only 70%? Should I tell you I've already died six or seven times at the butler's hands?
