Hu Li has a strong, Q-style knack for looking on the bright side,
so she quickly accepts the fact that after dying, she has transmigrated into a fox, carrying a mysterious, damaged System.

Xiao Yuye is the most vicious monster in the Demon-Suppressing Pagoda. Bored, he splits off a fragment of himself and sends his divided soul escaping from the tower.
As it happens, his soul fragment ends up inhabiting a little fox with a human soul.
The little fox is rather interesting,
so Xiao Yuye plays along with her imagination, disguising himself as a System and watching the wild fox's daily struggle to survive for amusement.
*
Hu Li spends some time living as a wild fox,
until she unexpectedly discovers that the world she transmigrated into is full of monsters and demons,
and that, as a fox, she can cultivate until she becomes a spirit. Hu Li cheerfully and optimistically rebuilds her entire worldview.
*
Xiao Yuye realizes he's fallen for the little fox.
Regretting that one mistake could ruin him forever, he honestly tells her where he came from, coming clean in the hope of leniency.
To make the little fox forgive him, he acts cute, plays up his pitiful side, and promises to find a way to send her home.
Xiao Yuye: A gentleman's word is as good as gold.
Besides, he can go home with the little fox, right? (grin)

Time flies. Just as Hu Li finally cultivates a human form,
she unexpectedly meets another transmigrator from her homeland and learns that she has transmigrated into an old-fashioned tragic romance novel about love between a demon and a human.
In the novel, she goes from being all the male leads' idealized first love to a vicious supporting character who is nothing but a grain of rice.
Hu Li: Well, well!
Xiao Yuye: Well, well!
#Hu Li always thought Xiao Yuye was a rabbit spirit, and that their romance would be a girl-loves-boy kind of story. But it turns out he's actually a Hou, yes, the legendary Hou said to be able to fight three dragons and two jiao at once...#
