I'm a Little Fox, but My Dao Companion Is the Demon Lord

The Demon Lord broke the seal on an ancient sacred artifact. Legend had it that if the seal were ever broken, calamity would descend upon the Three Realms.

The gods cast divinations for forty-nine days.

They found the one most suited to deal with (go and deliver himself to) the Demon Lord (as a sacrifice).

Yan Duxuan was the unlucky one chosen.

"Aren't fox spirits supposed to be the best at tricking people?"

"But he's a demon! Hey! Wait!"

-

When Yan Duxuan was sent to the Demon Palace, he was so exhausted that he changed back into his original form.

The white fox trembled as he faced the cold, handsome Demon Lord.

"Don't come any closer!"

The great fiend said to be capable of destroying heaven and earth stood before him. He slowly lifted the fox and fixed his cold red eyes on Yan Duxuan.

The white fox stopped breathing.

Then the great fiend lowered his head and buried it in the fox's soft belly, taking a deep breath.

The white fox: "..."

The white fox: "???"

Yan Duxuan's daily life after being given to the Demon Lord: Go out hunting, bring back a pile of wild rabbits, pheasants, mice, and berries, then wait for someone to prepare his catch.

The Demon Lord's daily life: Watch the fox go hunting, roast the prey the fox brings back and feed it to him, sneakily stroke his ears, paws, and tail, then find an excuse to bury his face in the fox's fur.

Yan Duxuan had assumed the great fiend was simply a fur enthusiast.

But it wasn't until he recovered his memories of his previous life that he learned Liang Huaimian had silently waited for him for thousands of years in a lightless seal.
