This book revolves around family, careers, immigration, and having children. Life in America always makes me think about where new immigrants fit in here and what the future holds for them. I hear about all kinds of protests every day, yet it's hard to truly care. Will people grow more and more indifferent? The four women in this story each try to pursue the meaning hidden in life in their own way, but the results often turn out contrary to what they hoped. We seem to find it hard to escape a sense of helplessness, even as we have an abundance of energy and desire to satisfy our own wants. Seeing more and more immigrants, I think of sterilization. Perhaps the government will use such extreme measures to control the population increase brought by immigration, just as it has throughout history. Most of the love in this story is confused and uncertain. That's how I understand love. Careers represent money, and people seem to care more about who gets to go out and treat everyone than who has truly become their authentic self.
Theme: A spirit of forgiveness
It's great, can't wait for the next chapter!
