After discovering that he simply couldn’t die, Lorenz made a pact with an unknown creature calling itself the “Malice Rehabilitation System.” It promised to help him reach death.
But what left him completely baffled was that the System’s mission was to raise his affection for someone to one hundred percent.
“Affection? That’s an overly simplistic way of putting it,” the System objected. “This emotion is a fleeting illusion produced by hormones. From the human perspective, it’s called ‘love.’”
Lorenz detected a note of disdain. “Wouldn’t it be quicker to just kill me? Skip the rehabilitation part. Wouldn’t that count as eliminating malice?”
“You’re not wrong, but our organization has determined that this emotion can change the course of action of someone filled with malice. Therefore, ‘rehabilitation’ is the best choice,” the little robot explained. “As for whether you choose to die, that’s up to you.”
“…” Lorenz was speechless. “What if I never manage to complete the mission?”
“You don’t need to worry about that. Our organization has a comprehensive plan for people like you.”
“?”
“Sign the contract first. You’ll find out in time.”
