Money-loving, food-loving, female powerhouse x aloof, taciturn male Ditian
Jiang Tingwan was stunningly beautiful, with porcelain skin and the allure of a woman made of water.
The problem was, she was a bit eccentric: she was convinced she could see ghosts.
A sharp-tongued woman in an embroidery shop, an old woman with a cat's face in the woods.
Ghostly figures with claws bared haunted her so badly she could barely sleep or eat. Even running an inn left her on edge, terrified of walking alone at night.
Luckily, someone had said that if you pretended not to see a ghost, it couldn't hurt you.
She believed it and put the advice into practice.
When a ghost with its tongue hanging out "greeted" her in a derelict house, she expertly rolled her eyes and fainted dead away.
But whenever she opened her eyes, the townsfolk would be holding her hands with tears in their eyes. "Thank you, Master, for exorcising that vengeful ghost. We can never repay your kindness."
The county magistrate: "Thanks to Master, we solved the case of the child murders."
A townsman: "I saw Master knock a ghost flying again yesterday!"
A scholar: "I heard Master once chased a ghost!"
She was completely bewildered. How had she become a renowned ghost-exorcising master?
All she knew how to do was pretend to be dead!
Shi Mi was Ditian, who served at the side of the Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha. Gentle as the moon, he was reserved and taciturn.
But then a judge from the underworld came to the Bodhisattva, asking for help finding Lord Yama, who had wandered into the mortal realm.
The Bodhisattva pointed at Shi Mi, and he reluctantly took on the responsibility.
When he found Jiang Tingwan, a little ghost as white as ash was trying to scare the girl.
Shi Mi witnessed the girl faint from fright, only to unconsciously unleash Lord Yama's power and blast the little ghost into oblivion.
Shi Mi: ...
For a moment, he didn't know whom to pity.
Shi Mi carried her all the way to the underworld without anyone noticing. Jiang Tingwan slowly came to.
The girl stared at the rows of Ox-Head and Horse-Face spirits and Black and White Impermanence kneeling before her, then shrank back. "I'm just a mortal. I died, and the underworld offers funeral wailing services?"
Horse-Face excitedly wiped away a tear and wailed, "Lord Yama, you've finally returned!"
Jiang Tingwan looked at all the ghosts, expertly rolled her eyes and kicked her legs, and fainted on the spot.
Shi Mi: ...
Mini-scene:
Reckless ghost: This soul smells so delicious...
The real powerhouse, Lord Yama Jiang Tingwan: Want to eat me? You little chili pepper, get over here!

Everyone Works Themselves to the Bone While I Lie Flat
Cheng Yuan is clever and hardworking, with extraordinary talent. She is a once-in-a-generation prodigy, highly regarded by everyone at Guiyun Peak.
One day, she wakes up to learn that she is actually a supporting female character in a storybook. She joins a prestigious sect as a child, makes a name for herself in battle as a teenager, and then in middle age...
Sorry, there is no middle age.
According to the storybook, her exceptional talent draws the attention of the demon realm. In order to force her to turn demonic, they frame her again and again until she is expelled from her sect and abandoned by everyone.
Five years later, during the immortal-demon war sparked by the male and female leads, she tries to clear her name and save the world by sacrificing herself to the Dao, dying and vanishing from existence.
At the time, Cheng Yuan had only been in the sect for a year. She nervously explained that she was just a supporting character and couldn't possibly bear such a heavy responsibility.
To avoid that tragic fate, she racked her brains and came up with the perfect plan.
While her fellow disciples worked hard on their swordsmanship, she slept in her room.
While they practiced magic, she went fishing in the lake.
While they entered illusory realms, she planted vegetables on the back mountain.
Cheng Yuan: As long as I don't work hard, no one can make me sacrifice myself to the Dao!
But even so, Cheng Yuan's cultivation still advanced at breakneck speed. After sleeping for three days and nights, she woke in horror to discover that she had formed her core!
Heaven's Will: This is the chosen sacrifice I've appointed. No one is allowed to take her place.
Cheng Yuan: Look at me, laughing and crying like a child throwing a tantrum...
A child just wants to live. Help wanted, urgently, urgently, urgently!

Gu Yunzheng is an odd presence at Guiyun Peak. He's supposed to be an elder in charge of discipline, yet he's always done things his own way. For at least half of the past three hundred years, he hasn't been at the sect.
Either he's out enjoying the world, perfectly content.
Or he's sleeping for a hundred years in the midst of beautiful mountains and rivers.
When he finally remembered he was an elder of the sect and returned to Guiyun Peak, the first day happened to be the sect's tournament.
He watched as a girl named Cheng Yuan deliberately held back until someone knocked the sword from her hand.
Later, whenever Gu Yunzheng drank on the back mountain, he often ran into the girl: twice fishing, twice catching birds, and once staring into space.
After learning Cheng Yuan's secret, Gu Yunzheng said he had a way to solve her problem with a small effort and a huge reward.
Cheng Yuan blinked at him, looking pitiful.
Gu Yunzheng: But I'll be charging interest.
Cheng Yuan: Anything is fine, as long as I don't have to sacrifice myself to the Dao.
Gu Yunzheng: Then why not... give yourself to me?
A female sword cultivator who just wants to lie flat and stay alive * a carefree, outwardly innocent but secretly ruthless male elder
