He takes a spot on a variety show where he's supposed to get criticized, playing the lazy, gluttonous foil. His manager says he only has to follow the script to get paid, so Nan Shao decides to lie flat. With the camera shoved in his face, he waits for the insults to pour in.

Unexpectedly, a mirage monster crawls into his room. The livestream chat erupts, and the viewers wish they could reach through the screen and shake him awake.

Nan Shao rolls over and slaps the monster on the head. It sinks into the ground and disappears. Nan Shao yawns and goes back to sleep.

In this world, mirage monsters are everywhere. Only an Alpha whose mental power is channeled through a special artifact can hurt them, and only an S-rank Alpha can hurt them without one.

Nan Shao is taken straight to a medical center for another test. The final conclusion: he's a bottom-tier D-rank. The monster happened to burrow back underground for some unknown reason as he rolled over, and the visual error made everyone think he'd beaten it back.
