The room is dark, but a figure suddenly appears. Before Song Ci can scream, a hand covers her mouth, and a card is pressed into her hand.

A security guard is patrolling the hallway, and Song Ci instinctively pulls Jiang Chenxuan into hiding.

"You're so good at hiding. It's like sneaking away to avoid getting caught dating in school," the man says with a faint smile.

In an empty stairwell, the boy pins Li Zhi in a corner. The veins at the base of his thumb pulse against her wrist, burning and dangerous, just like his gaze.

"Zhizhi, do you know what you're saying?"

They meet again at Lu Zhiye's engagement party. He's a rising business magnate back from studying abroad, while she's a popular young actress.

She attends in disguise, never expecting him to see through it. The two trade barbs.

"Miss Li, you didn't come because you still have feelings for me, did you?" The man looks amused.

"A good horse doesn't eat the grass it passed by," Li Zhi replies expressionlessly.

As if to prove she means it, Li Zhi immediately joins a dating show. Somehow, Lu Zhiye becomes a guest too.

To outsiders, they have no connection. No one knows about their youthful past.

During filming, his gaze is deep and intense. He forcefully interrupts another man's confession to Li Zhi, jealousy written all over him, and pulls her away.

He makes her press down on the pulsing vein at the base of his left thumb. As she had so many times before, Li Zhi has no choice but to feel his heartbeat this way.

"Zhizhi, I'm determined to take back what I once let go."

"Whether in the past or now, it can only be me."

He had fallen for her completely back in that midsummer when they first met...
