"Tsuna, let's break up."
Order had only just been restored after ten years. Sawada Tsunayoshi thought he could finally return to the happy life he'd had before. He didn't know why Kitahara Shuji was saying this.
"Shuji?"
Kitahara looked at Tsuna, the person who had once given him boundless warmth, the person he couldn't stop wanting for himself.
"It hurts so much, Tsuna."
Seeing his tears, Tsuna let him go. He had always been a kind person.
To Kitahara Shuji, Tsuna had once been his most precious treasure. But he was also the Tenth to so many people. Tsuna cherished him, and cherished his companions just as much.
That was only natural. Their bonds could even transcend time. Kitahara understood that, but the fire of greed in his chest kept him awake all night.
He should have been grateful that someone could love him with such complete sincerity.
And yet Kitahara, an ordinary person, harbored such dark, deep desires. And what was more, he was still just an ordinary person.
It seemed so rare to be someone's one and only. Only power could make someone belong to you completely. Kitahara Shuji wanted to rise above everyone else, but he was just an ordinary person.
Edogawa Ranpo: "A genius can do anything, Shuji. Give me all your love, and I'll give you everything you want."
If the president was the noble cause dearest to Edogawa, Kitahara Shuji was his most intense, unspoken selfish desire.
