After a long stretch of overtime and being psychologically manipulated by her boss, her coworkers turned into pollutants.
Ling Bizhen herself wasn’t far from death either.
With only a few days left to live, Ling Bizhen decided to give up trying.
She quit her job overnight, bought some land, and retired on the spot, ready to try the farming and herding life of her dreams.
When she got out of the car, she saw bones and graves everywhere, with blood-red eyes hanging high above... Everything about it looked sinister!
Ling Bizhen was furious:
Hey! She wanted to buy a ranch and enjoy the rest of her life, not find a graveyard and bury herself early!

In the post-nuclear-war wasteland, social tensions have reached unprecedented heights. Under neon lights, some people raise their glasses together, while in the slums, others struggle to survive.
Only the pollution disease that appeared from nowhere treats everyone equally, robbing every human being of their sanity and life.
No one knows where the pollution came from. They say that in the black fog, an indescribable city lies dormant, the source of every disaster.
The survivors live in constant fear. Then one day, with nowhere else to turn, they approach this “Cursed City,” trembling...
*
...The terror they expected never came.
Instead, people discovered that
The indestructible combat squad, the wasteland’s biggest food supplier, and the new artistic star hailed as a beacon of hope all entered the city as if they were coming home;
The evil genius scientist long believed dead and the rebel leader’s daughter, who had been dead for years, were alive again, chatting and drinking tea in the city;
And why were the pollutants who should have lost their minds and the vicious, bloodthirsty beasts all living peacefully here too?
The survivors stared in disbelief at the girl seated on the high throne, acclaimed by everyone as their city lord
Ling Bizhen, blowing on her tea with a bowl in hand: You probably won’t believe this, but at first, I just wanted to lie flat here...
#A graveyard from the start
#Whatever, my sanity is at zero
#Since going crazy, I’ve felt much better every day

Not scary. A mildly Lovecraftian settlement-building story. The title may change, but the core concept will stay the same.
Blurb first drafted on June 3, 2023.
