The historical records say: "Emperor Huan Cheng: His name means taking the essence and clarifying the source. After Emperor Wen abdicated, he seized the moment and ascended the throne, succeeding to Heaven's mandate. He ushered in seventy years of prosperity in both civil and military affairs. It is said that the emperor had a beloved companion who stayed by his side from his humble beginnings until his twilight years. According to the inner court, he was both a confidant and a capable minister. Later historical sources offer no details. When the tomb was opened, only Cheng Emperor's remains were found, proving the story had been nothing but hearsay."

Huan Jingshu: Bold and enterprising, unafraid of reform or outside threats. Yet his thoughts were complicated and ever-changing. By the time he looked back, no one useful remained by his side.
Li Mu: He rose above his complicated family background, embodying the power of aristocratic families to balance one another. Skilled at reading people's expressions, quick-witted and adaptable, he offered Jingshu many excellent strategies. Even so, he faced three crises of trust with Jingshu.
