Starting at One Penny an Hour

By the clear, winding river, two groups of displaced people faced off.

The group on the left held bricks, stones, and long sticks. The group on the right raised shoulder poles and wooden stools.

A great battle was about to begin!

But the skinny boy holding a shoulder pole on the right silently lowered his "weapon." "Boss Song, it's two coins for an hour. Time's up, so please pay me."

Jiang Yao's motto was: Never work overtime!

In the game "Ancient-Era Day Laborer," players start with a wage of one coin per hour and gradually level up. Each level unlocks more skills and raises their hourly wage. Players can also unlock various routes and CG achievements as they play. After Jiang Yao maxed out the game, she came to her senses and found herself transmigrated into a character with maxed-out stats, but with the beginner template of a one-coin-per-hour wage?

"What hidden master? What peerless hero? You've got the wrong person, young friend." Jiang Yao said without looking up, crouched on the ground and slurping noodles.

That was until a purse full of silver was held out in front of her.

Swallowing a mouthful of noodles, Jiang Yao stood up. "Haha! I can't believe you've seen through my true identity, young friend!"

Starting at one coin an hour, she's going to turn this whole martial world upside down.
