The Art of Mysterious Plunder

I'm a little short on inspiration, so I'll put this aside for now

An existence reached through technology that cannot be explained by others using objective laws is called [Mystery].

The certification of [Mystery] is decided jointly by the Five Great Financial Clans.

Individuals, families, or groups that possess [Mystery] have the right to establish a financial clan, protect a city, and rule a region.

--The Third Edition of the Rights Act, Star River Calendar

Only when [Mystery] is understood and analyzed by a single faction does it possess independence and enjoy the corresponding rights. If [Mystery] is understood and analyzed by multiple factions, it is downgraded to [Technology] and can no longer enjoy those rights.

When [Technology] can only be understood and analyzed by a single faction, it is upgraded to [Mystery].

No faction or individual owns [Mystery].

Wars fought over [Mystery] are legal as long as no ordinary civilians are killed or injured.

--The [Mystery] Plunder Act

1. My take on cyberpunk, my take on the Cthulhu Mythos

2. The technology in this story doesn't follow a scientific approach. It's more like Project Moon (Doge). For details, you can check out Lobotomy Corporation and Library of Ruina. The technology and financial clans here will have roughly the same aesthetic. If you're unfamiliar with them, that's fine. You can just think of it as fantasy (lighting cigarette.jpg)
