Zhou Buwang often dreams of two people called Chen Shiqing and Jiang Songjun.
Wen Niannian fell asleep while reading a storybook. Its main characters were called Chen Shiqing and Jiang Songjun.
Then she opened her eyes and transmigrated.
Zhou Buwang thought she was mute. He gave her a name, taught her to write and mind her manners, saved her life, and, despite the objections, took her as his wife.
The first snow of the sixth year of Xiaode fell softly. The capital's decadent splendor was covered, flake by flake, in snow. Someone was lost in the scene, and at the time, they all thought this was the beginning of the story.
On their wedding day, people cried, "The bride has run away!" and "The bride is missing!" Only Zhou Buwang knew that Wen Niannian had returned to the place that belonged to the two of them.
Zhou Buwang died.
That was actually the beginning of the story.
Niannian had accidentally transmigrated to Zhou Buwang's side and written this storybook. He found it, and then, while ill, dreamed a golden dream: Chen Shiqing was himself, and so was Zhou Buwang.
They could not transcend time, nor could they be together for lifetimes to come. It was only Zhou Buwang's golden dream before he died.
