How to Survive as the Male Lead's Vile Husband

The Revenge of the Live-In Son-in-Law is an upward-mobility story about Lu Qian, who has spent years in a wheelchair, becoming a live-in son-in-law to a wealthy family and eventually the sole head of the Lu family.

Xie Zhen transmigrates into this melodramatic rags-to-riches novel as the vicious male spouse who shares his name.

The melodramatic part is that this vicious male spouse is an adopted son of the Xie family who falls in love with his older brother, the brother who doted on him growing up.

Even more melodramatic, the person he's been betrothed to also loves his gentle, kind older brother. The two men are a married couple in name, but rivals in love behind the scenes.

In the book, the original Xie Zhen humiliates and torments Lu Qian in every way. After becoming head of the Lu family, Lu Qian plots to drive him away, and he falls to his death.

When Xie Zhen transmigrates into the story, the original owner has just done something suicidal: he made Lu Qian kneel for an entire day and night.

Lu Qian is stubborn to the core. He gives Xie Zhen a cold look and sneers, "You're not even as good as one of your brother's fingers."

Xie Zhen immediately pretends to be his older brother Xie Yan's biggest fan. "Funny, I think so too."

Lu Qian: "?"

Xie Zhen says shyly, "He's electricity, he's light, he's the one and only legend."

He helps Lu Qian to his feet with deep affection, then speaks like a fellow fan: "Since you admire my brother too, we're in this together now."

To save his own skin, Xie Zhen is determined to bring the two of them together. He refuses to meddle in their relationship and gets chummy with Lu Qian, determined to be a good buddy.

Xie Yan hints that his birthday is coming up, and Xie Zhen helpfully reminds him, "Don't forget to get my brother a present!"

Xie Yan comes over for a meal, and Xie Zhen earnestly reads him the instructions: "My brother loves pork rib and corn soup!"

Xie Yan comes over to sleep, and Xie Zhen cheerfully reveals his brother's secret preferences: "Between us, my brother likes clingy kittens."

Lu Qian: "..."

Later, after biding his time, Lu Qian transforms overnight and becomes the head of the Lu family. Xie Zhen produces a divorce agreement and says shyly, "Starting today, you're free."

Now you can pursue the person you love without holding back, like my brother!

Then Xie Zhen watches Lu Qian tear up the divorce agreement, his smile not reaching his eyes. "So, Xiao Zhen, you don't want me anymore?"

Xie Zhen: "..."

The next day, Xie Zhen can't get out of bed. He hugs a pillow and weeps.

Lu Qian gazes at him tenderly. "Will you dare bring up divorce again?"

"I won't. I swear I won't ever bring it up again."
