Sherlock Holmes, consulting detective, the most intelligent man in all of London. There are two kinds of people he hates most:
1. Goldfish (idiots).
2. People who write the killer's name on the screen before the movie even starts.
Unfortunately, his new neighbor, Bai Ze, is the undisputed champion of the latter.
[On solving cases] Sherlock (takes a deep breath, speaking at breakneck speed): From the red clay on the soles of the shoes, the coffee stain on the cuff, and the callus on the left index finger, I deduce that the suspect is...
Bai Ze (lounging on the sofa, peeling a mandarin): His great-uncle, who plans to leave his inheritance to his illegitimate child.
Sherlock: ...Shut up! You're ruining the art of deduction!
Bai Ze: Oh. Go ahead and perform, then. I'm going next door to eat Mrs. Hudson's scones.
Sherlock: ...Wait! Leave that scone! It's mine!
[On villains] Jim Moriarty (spinning gracefully): I will burn the heart, I will make the angel fall, I will...
Bai Ze (yawning): You're going to fake your death on a rooftop, then take a vacation.
Moriarty (his smile stiffening): Darling, sometimes knowing too much gets you turned into a specimen.
Bai Ze: Don't be silly, little Jim. You can't beat me, and your hairline's receded another centimeter.
Moriarty: ...Blow this man up for me!!!
[On love] Watson always thought Sherlock and Bai Ze would come to blows over who was the smartest person on Baker Street. Until one late night, he saw the haughty detective kneeling, not to investigate a case, but to put socks on the sleeping young man from the East on the sofa.
Sherlock: He isn't spoiling the plot. He just... sees the damn fate that awaits us. And I'm the one who will rewrite it.
[Reader's Guide]
1. The protagonist is Bai Ze, an ancient divine beast who knows all things and is a walking spoiler in human form.
2. Science (deduction) versus the occult (all-knowing and all-powerful). In the end, science gives in to beauty.
3. Moriarty has a one-sided crush on the protagonist. He wants to cause trouble and get the guy (but gets rejected).
A satisfying, sweet romp with no logic, just here to make you smile.
