Dashing, teasing princess royal × aloof, ascetic Grand Secretary
Xu Shunchen, courtesy name Congli, was born into the distinguished Xu clan. Cool and upright, he was renowned throughout the realm for his talent.
He passed the highest-level imperial examination at seventeen, but at the celebratory palace banquet where he was appointed to office, the princess royal Su Yuzhao, known for her bold and unruly behavior, teased him.
Through a twist of fate, the two joined forces to solve one case after another. They pledged that one would guard the frontier while the other protected the imperial court.
Before their wedding, Xu Shunchen remained composed and restrained. "Princess, please conduct yourself with dignity."
After they married, Xu Shunchen repeatedly dragged Su Yuzhao back from drinking in brothels and ground out in her ear, "Didn't Your Highness want to keep handsome young lovers? How do I compare?"
Thesis: Resist imperial principles, reject heavenly principles, and uphold public justice
