During a prolonged war, Fei Niang, the Seventh Progenitor, and Krul, the Eighth Progenitor, are caught up in the fighting and accidentally transmigrate into Demon Slayer. Their bodies shrink, turning them into wailing newborns. Just then, Tanjiro's grandfather, who has been married for two years and already has a son, happens to pass by. Unable to bear seeing the two babies suffer, he takes Fei Niang and Krul in.
By a twist of fate, Fei Niang and Krul become uncles to the yet-unborn protagonist, Tanjiro. They grow up learning Sun Breathing and the Sun Halo Dragon alongside Tanjiro's father.
By the time they turn twelve, Fei Niang and Krul have regained most of their strength. To restore the rest, they sneak off to the mountains to drink animal blood. For some reason, animal blood works just as well for restoring their strength. In the mountains, they encounter demons for the first time and learn the truth about the world: demons exist.
"Aha." Fei Niang pats the demon on the head, then can't help laughing when it continues trying to scare them.
"A demon? I'd like to see how it's different from the ones I know." Fei Niang looks at the demon, now reduced to ash, then grins and exchanges a knowing look with Krul.
