Fu Qing was a spirit animator, though nobody knew it. Following his family motto, he kept a low profile in the heart of the city and managed to stay unnoticed for twenty years.
One day, Fu Qing went to a noodle shop. Someone had left a phone on the table. He took one look and saw that it was wrapped in such dense yin energy it looked black.
Fu Qing wanted nothing to do with it and didn't touch it.
When the owner came back and repeatedly thanked him, Fu Qing still couldn't resist adding, "You should take your girlfriend to the hospital for a checkup."
That afternoon, a roommate excitedly told him, "Dude, you're famous online!"
Completely baffled, Fu Qing opened his phone and watched a high-definition video of himself eating noodles and returning the phone to its owner. But the title read: "Is Movie Emperor Qin Yuxiu Dating Someone?"
What the heck?
"You didn't know?" his roommate helpfully explained. "It's a reality show where they observe people's reactions. This episode tested basic public etiquette. That movie star played the person who lost the phone. You said he had a girlfriend, and it became a trending topic."
The comments were so dense they nearly crashed the platform.
[Hahahaha, before I finished watching, I thought Xiao Qin had dressed up in disguise and gotten caught by reporters eating street-stall noodles with his boyfriend.]
[He can't stay single forever. Xiao Qin's dating now too.]
[This passerby's face is unreal. Standing next to Xiao Qin, he doesn't look any less handsome. Any interest in joining showbiz?]
[Am I the only one wondering how this passerby knew Xiao Qin had a girlfriend?]
Curious netizens dug and dug, until they found an old, secretly filmed video. "Oh, this guy set up a fortune-telling stall outside some tourist attraction." "It's that master! He's really accurate."
Fu Qing became an overnight sensation in the strangest way.
Later, the movie star started sticking close to him, saying strange things always happened around him and he only felt safe when he was with Fu Qing.
Fu Qing put on an earnest face. "I didn't, and I haven't. I'm just an ordinary college student."
Then a talent scout came along, offering to launch his career as an idol.
Fu Qing was unmoved. "No thanks. I still have a bunch of dolls to make."
Talent scout: "You could make a lot of money."
Fu Qing: "Really? Then let's sign a contract."
Once he actually entered showbiz, Fu Qing found that supernatural incidents around him multiplied. There was an elevator shaped like a coffin, a woman who acted completely crazy, and, strangest of all, Qin Yuxiu looked just like one of the dolls he'd animated.
Fu Qing only wanted to quietly make money as an idol, so he pretended not to notice. But the little ghosts kept shamelessly flocking around him. Fu Qing was furious: This is too much!
With no other choice, Fu Qing returned to his old trade and secretly started earning a living from the spirit world again.
Showbiz + supernatural and occult themes. Spirit animators are a type of practitioner who can also tell fortunes, read feng shui, catch ghosts, and more.
