Unrequited love from the hero / marriage first, love later
Jiang Shiyi x Zhou Suihuai
On the day of the latest Golden Shadow Awards ceremony, Jiang Shiyi was cheated on by her boyfriend of four years.
He had climbed his way into the good graces of a rich, beautiful heiress, and even mocked Jiang Shiyi for coming from a poor family and having a dead-end job, saying she would never find anyone better than him.
Jiang Shiyi watched the Golden Shadow Awards ceremony live. The flashes poured down like a waterfall, and everywhere the cameras pointed was a sea of dazzling red, all glitz and glamour.
The quiet boy she remembered had entered the industry five years ago and won Best Actor four times. Now he stood at the center of fame and fortune, unrivaled in his brilliance.
She was twenty-five, her boyfriend had cheated, and she had accomplished nothing.
Beer cans lay scattered and crooked across the floor beneath the table. In the middle of the night, drunk out of her mind, Jiang Shiyi dialed a number she had kept buried for years.
She cried and rambled incoherently for most of the night.
She said her life was going badly, that her heart was aching, and asked, Zhou Suihuai, would you marry me?
Dawn was just breaking, and a morning breeze had begun to stir. From the phone, where he had been silent all along, she heard Zhou Suihuai's slightly hoarse voice: "Okay."
After that, she was no longer alone.

Later.
At a wedding for a classmate they had in common, her ex-boyfriend showed off his new flame and sneered, "What's the point of you? Always clinging to a big star. Did you come to the wedding, or are you here to catch yourself a rich husband?"
Zhou Suihuai, usually silent and distant, lazily lifted his eyes and replied without a hint of courtesy, "What business is that of yours?"
That night.
A secretly filmed video of the award-winning actor kissing someone on the street shot to the top of the trending list.
Their class group chat went wild with the clip.
Netizens might not recognize the woman in the video.
But they saw the cool and restrained Zhou Suihuai holding Jiang Shiyi and kissing her tenderly, as if she were a precious treasure.
In the grainy footage,
they saw Zhou Suihuai nestling against Jiang Shiyi's neck, his lips moving as he murmured, "I like Shishi. How can I like Shishi this much?"
