[Down-on-her-luck heiress, sweet little rabbit x powerful, scheming Boss Fu] Seven-year age gap
"Mr. Fu, let's call off the engagement." The young woman had just returned from studying in England. With rosy lips and pearly white teeth, she was twenty-one, like a rose just beginning to bloom. Facing the head of the Fu family, a man whose name struck fear into everyone, she tightly clutched the hem of her skirt. It was still faintly damp from the moisture she'd brought in from outside. "We're not right for each other. I don't think you'd want to let a marriage contract imposed by our elders restrict your freedom either."
"Have you made up your mind?" The inscrutable man narrowed his eyes slightly and set down his heavy, elaborately carved goblet. The bright red wine swirled gently in the glass. "I won't force a woman."
Three months later, on another drizzly day.
Though she'd thought she and Fu Huaiyan would never cross paths again, Ye Chuxiao had no choice but to step into the castle-like villa once more.
The soft carpet muffled her footsteps. The girl pressed her lips together and walked up to the man.
"Mr. Fu." She addressed him as she always did. Her fair hand gripped the hem of her skirt, the habitual gesture she made when nervous. "I've made up my mind. I'm willing to consider working with you."
"Are you really sure?" The man still held the same heavy, elaborately carved goblet. His words were exactly the same as last time: "I won't force a woman."
Later, Ye Chuxiao went out to dinner with her friends, and by the time Fu Huaiyan picked her up, the young woman was already drunk.
"Fu Huaiyan..." The tiny, soft figure curled up on the sofa lifted her head. Her peach-blossom eyes shimmered with tears, and though she was too sleepy to keep them open, she still remembered to apologize to him.
"I'm sorry. It's all my fault." She cried so miserably, barely able to catch her breath, as if she'd committed some terrible crime. "When I called off the engagement... I never thought I'd end up liking you this much..."
The tall man's breath escaped in a faint, amused laugh as he looked at the little cat with tear-reddened eyes.
"You'd better remember what you said tomorrow."
She still had no idea who had set their sights on whom first.

----Next novel to look forward to: Winning You Back----
1.
On her first night as a bride, Jing Tan waited all night in the enormous villa, but Shen Kuo never came.
During their first year of marriage, Jing Tan saw Shen Kuo three times in total.
She knew Shen Kuo hated the Jing family because of his late mother.
After a family banquet at the Shen home, Shen Kuo and Jing Tan rode back to their residence in the same car.
"Once the three years are up, take yourself and your Jing family and go wherever you came from." The cigarette between the man's fingers glowed fitfully. His voice was indifferent, and he didn't even spare her a sidelong glance.
"All right, Mr. Shen." Jing Tan minded her manners and automatically sat as far away from him as she could. "I won't cross the line."
2.
Later, one night, Shen Kuo came home from a business dinner close to midnight.
Jing Tan made him a cup of honey water and set it on the coffee table.
The girl before him wore fluffy white pajamas, with a pair of rabbit ears drooping down behind her.
She looked naive and innocent, nothing like the woman he'd seen at the summit during the day.
Shen Kuo narrowed his eyes and grabbed her wrist. "What are you really like?"
A red mark appeared on her pale wrist. Jing Tan frowned slightly and stepped back twice.
"Mr. Shen." She addressed him politely as always, her voice gentle, her manner obedient and proper. "We agreed on three rules. I can't get this close to you."

Before the three-year term was up, Jing Tan was the first to ask for a divorce.
Thinking she'd regained her freedom, she arranged to go wild at a bar with her best friend, letting out all her misery and hurt and completely letting loose.
By the time Shen Kuo arrived, Jing Tan was dead drunk.
"You're drinking so much. Aren't you afraid something will happen?" Shen Kuo picked her up, laughing in exasperation. "Jing Tan, have you always wanted to rebel like this?"
"Didn't Mr. Shen say I had nothing to do with him? Why are you going back on your word?" Jing Tan's pearly pink fingertip pressed against his lips. Her dewy peach-blossom eyes curved into crescents, and she spoke with rare boldness and provocation. "Don't interfere with me. From now on, we'll each go our own way and have nothing to do with each other."
Shen Kuo's gaze darkened, his thin lips pressed together, and his arms tightened around her.
"I don't take what you say when you're drunk seriously."

On the first night of their wedding, Jing Tan waited all night in the huge villa, but did not wait for Shen Kuo. In the first year of their marriage, Jing Tan met Shen Kuo three times in total. She knew that Shen Kuo hated the Jing family because of his late mother. After a family dinner at the Shen family, Shen Kuo and Jing Tan took a car back to their residence. "After three years, I will take you and your Jing family back wherever you want." The cigarette butts on the man's fingertips flickered, and his tone was indifferent, without even an inch of peripheral vision. "Okay, Mr. Shen," Jing Tan kept his discretion and automatically sat farthest away from him, "I won't cross the line." 2. Later one night, Shen Kuo came home from a social gathering and it was almost early in the morning. Jingtan made him a cup of honey water and put it on the coffee table. The girl in front of her was wearing fluffy white pajamas, with a pair of bunny ears hanging down from the back. Simple and ignorant of worldly affairs, nothing like what he saw during the daytime summit. Shen Kuo narrowed his eyes slightly and grabbed her wrist, "What are you like?" Hao's wrists were stained with red marks. Jing Tan frowned slightly and took two steps back. "Mr. Shen," she called him politely as always, speaking softly, well-behaved and polite, "We have made an agreement that I can't get so close to you." 3. Before the three-year period was up, Jingtan took the lead in filing for divorce. The girl who thought she had regained her freedom asked her best friend to go to the bar to have fun and vent all her grievances and pains, completely unrestrained. When Shen Kuo arrived, Jing Tan was already drunk and unconscious. "You're not afraid of getting into trouble even if you drink so much," Shen Kuo picked her up and laughed angrily, "Jingtan, have you always wanted to be this rebellious?" "Are you caring about me?" The pink and white fingertips pressed against his lips, Jing Tan's moist peach blossom eyes curved into crescent moons, like a little fox stealing candy, "Are you in love?" Shen Kuo looked at her steadily, his Adam's apple rolling, and he spoke softly. "What if it is?" The girl's bright eyes blinked, her head resting on his shoulder, her muffled voice was filled with happiness. "If you don't admit it anymore, I'm really going to leave." "Fortunately."
