Ji Nian had always lived in the shadow of his twin brother.
His brother was loved by everyone and doted on by all, while Ji Nian looked just like him but was gloomy and withdrawn, and nobody liked him.
When the supernatural returned and one of the brothers had to enter a deadly horror dungeon, everyone chose Ji Nian.
As the supernatural threat grew, Ji Nian's twin brother ended up entering a dungeon too. The people who had abandoned Ji Nian now came begging him to save his brother.
But his brother didn't need him at all.
The strongest people on the leaderboards favored his brother, and even the despair-inducing monsters in the dungeons adored him.
No one cared about Ji Nian. In the end, he was sacrificed to an evil god in his brother's place, enduring the god's frenzied possessiveness every day until death finally freed him.

After being reborn, Ji Nian got a System.
The System installed a character-collecting and training game on his phone.
Every character Ji Nian drew in the game was beautiful, powerful, and tragic, sinking into an abyss of suffering. Ji Nian carefully trained them to the highest level, maxed out all their attributes so they could escape their misery, then left the game.
He had no idea that the cards he had drawn were actually:
A handsome celebrity, popular in the real world but coerced in the Infinite Space;
A wealthy young heir from the Ji family, far beyond his family's reach, yet forced to grovel and endure humiliation in the dungeons;
A person with dissociative identity disorder, tormented by internal conflict despite possessing extraordinary abilities;
Ji Nian also had no idea that one of the attributes he had maxed out for these people was called Corruption.

There was a group of people with extraordinary potential, both in the real world and in horror dungeons, who had died young in despair in their previous lives for all sorts of reasons.
In this life, someone reached out to them from the darkness and offered them salvation. But when that person disappeared, they were driven to madness.
How could that person disappear?
How were they supposed to go on without their salvation?
They fought desperately to climb higher, battered and bloodied, and reached the very top just to see that person from their memories one more time.
Ji Nian knew nothing about this yet.
He was caught up in an even bigger mess.
He drew a special character in the game: a monster.
The monster took human form and appeared before Ji Nian, gazing at him with a mixture of adoration and devotion.
It was the evil god from his previous life.
After calming down, Ji Nian figured that since the monster had no memories of its previous life, he could teach it to be kind and harmless, so it wouldn't develop any improper feelings toward him.
He held out a hand to the monster and said, "You should call me Father."
*
The monster revered its father above all else.
It listened to him and willingly became a weak, ordinary human, staying obediently at home every day. No matter how agonizing it was, it would keep enduring and wait for its father to come out of the dungeon.
But Father was especially cold toward it. He sometimes smiled at the followers around him, but never at the monster.
The monster was in unbearable pain.
It could only try to be even more obedient and suppress its twisted thoughts. Father was the person it respected most, and it couldn't entertain any wicked notions about him.
But one day, the monster remembered its previous life.
It turned out that Father had once been his bride.
[Reader's Guide]
The evil god is the pursuer. The System and the monster are two fragments of him, and together they make up the evil god from the previous life.
The System remembers its previous life, but the monster doesn't at first.
