Ever since Jiu Chun took human form, his favorite things to do have been riding out to admire the flowers and wandering the world.
Now and then, he feels a pang of compassion and takes on the rich to help the poor, or acts as a wandering hero.
He doesn't harm anyone, frighten anyone, or hurt anyone.
To him, everything in the world is just as it is.
That is, until he "luckily" runs into Nan He, a demon hunter who styles himself the light of the righteous path.
Nan He has trained hard for over twenty years. Thanks to his outstanding talent, he has long stood out among the countless demon hunters.
Yet because of the demon named Jiu Chun, he breaks his sect's creed: If there's a demon, capture it!
If Jiu Chun is an evil demon, then why hasn't he done anything harmful in the month Nan He has followed him?
If he's a good demon, then why does he keep getting in the way of Nan He's hunts?
On top of that, Jiu Chun's aura is impossible to read. At times, demonic energy surges from him; at others, he exudes an awe-inspiring immortal aura. Nan He can't figure out what to make of him, or whether he should capture him.
As he follows Jiu Chun, Nan He discovers that he is unlike ordinary demons. He has a strong sense of justice and clear lines between love and hate. He saves lives without asking for anything in return, yet can also kill with a single sword stroke, without the slightest hesitation.
Even though humans and demons are destined to follow different paths, their relationship undergoes a subtle change.
Their feelings beneath the Three-Pearl Tree are real. So are the corpses strewn throughout the Demon-Suppressing Hall.
A thousand years later, a white crane stands with its head held high atop a thousand-year-old dead tree beside the White River.
Its wings are as white as snow, and the only thing that stands out in the darkness is the red lotus-shaped seal on its forehead, which flickers brightly.
"Nan He, if you'd known a thousand years ago that I was the one who slaughtered everyone in your Demon-Suppressing Hall, would you still have stayed here to watch over me all this time?"
The night mist is thick. A familiar voice winds around him like a ghost from the underworld. The white crane abruptly opens its eyes, and blood-red seepage stains the seal on its forehead...
Buddha saves those with a connection to him, and the pen leaves its mark on those destined to find it. If you like it, please add it to your collection.
