Tang Yiling stayed up late for several nights in a row, binge-reading a novel.
Only at the end did she realize that this so-called "dual-female-lead" story was actually about both female leads falling for the male lead.
Furious, she saw black and dropped dead on the spot, only to transmigrate into the book as the fake heiress, a cannon-fodder third female lead who was forced to take her own life.
According to the plot, on her first day in the book, Tang Yiling and the female lead, Li Lan, were locked in a storage room by the older sister who was only her sister in name.
In the original novel, they spent the entire night there.
Despite being alone for so long, they didn't even exchange a word before returning to their own lives.
Tang Yiling didn't want to experience death again, so she hurried to cling to the female lead's coattails. "Don't be scared, sis. I'll find a way out."
But just as she moved closer, a long, warm hand covered her eyes.
Then someone hooked an arm around her neck and pulled her close.
Li Lan traced her lips, her ragged breathing carrying an irresistible air of authority. "Help me, and I'll get you out."
Tang Yiling: ??? Why wasn't this part in the book?
As the novel's unattainable ideal female lead, Li Lan was distant and aloof toward everyone.
After leaving the storage room, Tang Yiling spent all day racking her brains, but couldn't find a way to get closer to her.
Unexpectedly, Li Lan put an agreement in Tang Yiling's hands.
Room and board were covered, and she'd even get paid. All she had to do was fulfill a few "special duties."
There were too many clauses. Tang Yiling summed them up in three words: kept woman!
It seemed her earlier performance had earned the female lead's approval and praise.
All she had to do was stay by Li Lan's side and provide the amusements expected of a kept woman.
Li Lan handled everything else herself. Tang Yiling didn't need to lift a finger.
Li Lan was busy most of the time, so their weekly weekend release became a regular date.
In their secret relationship, Tang Yiling gradually lost herself in Li Lan's embraces and kisses.
Until one day, Li Lan slipped a hand beneath the hem of Tang Yiling's nightgown.
Tang Yiling's alarm bells rang. She grabbed Li Lan's hand.
Her voice trembled slightly. "That wasn't one of the terms we agreed to, was it?"
Li Lan bent down and kissed her fingertips. "Have you misunderstood something, girlfriend?"
Well, now it's really a dual-female-lead story.

[Pre-release: The Demon Venerable Is Pretending to Be a Good Person Again Today (Ancient-to-Modern)]
Ning Yan was of mediocre talent, the most ordinary disciple in her sect.
After an accident left her fallen into the water, she transmigrated to the modern world.
Skyscrapers were everywhere, and there were few "pure lands" suited for cultivation.
After searching high and low, Ning Yan finally found a mountain valley brimming with spiritual energy.
She planned to stay in a secluded mountain villa, wait for her cultivation to improve, and then find a way home.
But when she knocked on the villa's door, she saw a familiar face.
Zhuo Sheng, the fearsome Demon Venerable of the cultivation world, had vanished without a trace a few years ago. It turned out she'd been hiding here.
Ning Yan raised the little branch she'd just picked up with trembling hands. "Y-you demoness, face my sword!"
Before she could thrust her "sword," someone stuffed a piece of food into her mouth.
Ning Yan secretly decided to give her a chance to explain, for the sake of the "cake."
Zhuo Sheng was mysterious and often left Ning Yan home alone.
Worried she might be up to no good, Ning Yan had no choice but to raise her wooden sword again.
She hadn't practiced for so long that her sword thrust went wide.
The clothes in Zhuo Sheng's shopping bag spilled all over the floor. They were all pretty dresses she'd bought for Ning Yan.
Only then did Ning Yan learn that people in the modern world had something called "work."
That did explain things. Ning Yan accepted the clothes and decided to keep observing her.
Later, Ning Yan discovered that mountain spirits and monsters were causing trouble, but none dared approach the villa.
She caught one of them and brought it before Zhuo Sheng, demanding to know what was going on.
Usually calm and composed, Zhuo Sheng was so frightened that she cowered in a corner, trembling.
No matter how much Ning Yan tried to comfort her, she refused to sleep alone.
Ning Yan realized she had wronged Zhuo Sheng and swore to make it up to her with everything she had.
That night, a sturdy, soft Immortal-Binding Rope bound Ning Yan's hands and feet.
Zhuo Sheng held her chin and slowly leaned in. "Didn't you say you'd make it up to me? Why haven't you kissed me yet?"
