Stockpiling Goods and Living It Up in the Wasteland

[New story: Raising Kids in the 1970s, Lying Flat and Enjoying the Gossip, now underway] At 1:00 a.m., the Blue Star enters an age of apocalyptic evolution. Some people are beset by monsters, while others awaken supernatural abilities. The neighbors fall into chaos. Some meet their end in despair, while others revel in the apocalypse. Ye Ling gains a pocket dimension. She decides to pick up a weapon and clear the zombies floor by floor, taking a cautious approach. More and more people join her group. They clear apartment buildings, residential compounds, streets, supermarkets, markets... And in the process, they build a well-fortified shelter in a residential compound. Survivors flock to them and eagerly help build the base: growing food, making weapons, working on infrastructure, and serving communal meals... Their motto is to prepare for the worst and work together. The weather becomes unpredictable, zombies evolve and grow stronger, plants and animals mutate, and the environment grows harsher by the day. What will become of humanity? Ye Ling's base has this to say: Build the strongest walls, grow the most food, and keep lying low till the end of time! The major cities lose their water, electricity, and gas. Survivors can't get a hot meal day after day, while Ye Ling's base argues about whether to have hot pot or braised goose in an iron pot for dinner! Reading note: This should be a fairly conventional apocalypse story: fighting monsters, stockpiling supplies, growing vegetables, and building up a base, told in a slice-of-life style. Very little romance. Theme: Your environment does not determine where you end up.
