Her father and brothers were accidentally implicated in a treason case, and sentenced to death.

With no other choice, Yinyin went to plead with the powerful future uncle-in-law who held sway over the court. Her long hair fell over her shoulders as tears streamed down her face.

"What do your father and brothers have to do with me?"

The red candlelight flickered, and the gauze canopy swayed gently. The young man regarded her warmly, his voice clear as jade, his gaze cool and composed.

Before his younger brother died, he had asked him to look after his fiancée.

He remembered those words and kept his promise, taking excellent care of the young woman until he "looked after" her so thoroughly that she had nowhere else to turn, and "looked after" her right into his bed.

Later, he held her corpse and begged her desperately not to leave him.

But when he returned to the beginning of the story, all he did was use her to take revenge on his mother.

※ Elder brother steals younger brother's wife, coercion and possessive love, followed by a later crematorium arc. The heroine fakes her death.
