Spring in the Brocade Tent

[The Ex-Wife Chase from Hell + Taking Her by Force + A Rivalry-Fueled Love Triangle]

Su Wanqing is gravely injured and left wandering the streets, where she happens to be rescued by Shen Wentan.

The physician says she suffered a shock and has forgotten much of her past.

Her savior, Shen Wentan, is the power behind Tianxiang Pavilion and a trusted confidant of the Emperor. Grateful to him, Su Wanqing willingly serves at his side.

Though she lives in a house of pleasure, it is at least a place to call home, and she dares not hope for more.

Everyone says Shen Wentan is gloomy and cruel, a man of deep schemes, yet he treats Su Wanqing exceptionally well.

He indulges her timid, shy nature, smiles only for her, and even takes the time to teach her himself when the mood strikes.

Su Wanqing blushes and her heart races. Experiencing love for the first time, she longs for the little warmth she has found.

She thinks that once the situation settles, Shen Wentan will marry her, and everything will be proper and aboveboard.

Until one day, Shen Wentan hands her over to General Li Zhou without a trace of regret.

Su Wanqing's heart dies completely. Tears in her almond-shaped eyes, she looks up, then suddenly finds the man before her strangely familiar.

She vaguely remembers that she and Li Zhou had once pledged themselves to one another, and that she had leaned against his shoulder and sweetly called him "husband."

But on their wedding night, she waited in vain for him. Instead, news came that he had died on the road home, along with an imperial decree confiscating the family estate and exiling the family.

Shen Wentan was born to a singing girl and was spurned by his family from childhood. Hidden behind Tianxiang Pavilion, he controls the tides of power and has become the Emperor's sharpest blade.

He and Su Wanqing had met only once.

The girl's bright, lovely smile stayed in his mind from then on, impossible to forget.

When he first brought her home, he thought of her as no more than an ordinary plaything. He would never allow her to disturb his heart or hinder his path.

So when Li Zhou proposed a deal, Shen Wentan pushed her away without hesitation.

It was only when Su Wanqing ignored him beneath the warm spring sun, then smiled sweetly as she linked arms with Li Zhou and later made love to him in the brocade curtains, that Shen Wentan felt regret.

The sight of the lovers together pierced his eyes. Shen Wentan's smile turned cold and sinister. A shard of broken porcelain in his palm cut into his flesh, and blood dripped from his fingertips to the ground.

What does it matter if I made a wrong move? I can simply take her back.
