When Jiang Youhui was born, her father was leading an army in rebellion. Her mother, despite her frail health, made a pilgrimage to the Bodhisattva temple, bowing every three steps, to invite Master Jingyin out of seclusion. Together, they formed the famed Women's Army, which guarded Long Pass.
Later, the Jiang family took the realm, and eight-year-old Jiang Youhui was made Princess Zhaohua.
She was exceptionally bright, and her father personally approved her joining the crown prince's lessons with the Grand Tutor, where she studied the classics, poetry, and the art of ruling.
Twelve short years later, her father died of illness, and the crown prince ascended the throne.
At twenty, Jiang Youhui defied the natural order and launched a coup in Luocheng. She drenched the entire royal city in blood and had her own brother put to death on the throne.
From then on, the Princess Zhaohua was honored as empress, and she began a new era: Qinghui Year One.
Over the following decades, a system of female officials emerged from this dynasty, ushering in a legendary golden age for women.
Please note before reading:
[An ensemble story, beginning with the heroine's mother and following the heroine into old age, so it is very slow-burn!]
[The heroine is ruthless and merciless. She will kill her brother and her ministers, and cares only about power.]
