Lu Ran seems cold and intimidating to everyone else. Only Jiang Mu knows he's actually childish and petty, a total brat.
They grew up together, sharing the same class from elementary school through high school. Aside from their parents, they saw more of each other than anyone else. They were sick of each other.
Jiang Mu thought he could finally enjoy a few peaceful years at university, but on the first day of school, he opened his dorm room door and came face-to-face with Lu Ran's punchable face.
Lu Ran: "What a coincidence."
Jiang Mu: "..."
Who said he'd rather die than go to the same school?
One day, Jiang Mu accidentally saw a guy confess to Lu Ran. Lu Ran rejected him very coldly, and even seemed a little frightened.
So Lu Ran was homophobic.
Jiang Mu's eyes darted about, and he immediately came up with a nasty plan to "gross Lu Ran out."
So one quiet afternoon, he cornered Lu Ran against a wall and gave him a gentle smile.
"Lu Ran, you follow me around every day. Are you in love with me?"
Jiang Mu curled his lips, waiting for Lu Ran to look disgusted.
Five seconds passed.
Lu Ran looked Jiang Mu in the eye and nodded. "Yeah."
Jiang Mu: ?!
What did you say?
Jiang Mu finally understood what it meant to shoot himself in the foot. After that, Lu Ran seemed like a different person, fussing over Jiang Mu and doing whatever he wanted.
He turned pages for him while he read, wiped his mouth when he ate, scrubbed his back when he showered, and was practically one step away from getting into bed with him.
It was really weird.
Weird, but not entirely weird. There was something not quite right about it, and something enjoyable about that wrongness, and something indescribable about that enjoyment...
Jiang Mu wrapped himself tightly in his little blanket. "Don't come any closer!!! I'm straight!"
Until one day, their roommate caught them kissing.
The roommate's face twitched as he stared at Jiang Mu. "You... straight?"
Jiang Mu pushed Lu Ran out of his arms, wiped his lips, and calmly replied, "I used to be straight."
