In high school, Wen Yuecheng could always pick out that rebellious figure from the crowd at a glance.

Chi Yu was a shining presence at Jiangxia No. 1 High School, with excellent grades and a carefree, flamboyant nature.

Wen Yuecheng's secret crush was timid and careful.

Countless times, she carried her books past Chi Yu's classroom. Even more often, she walked by the wall of honor where his photo was displayed, or passed by when girls confessed to him.

His slender, well-defined fingers gently held her ankle. Beneath his black hair, his brow was sharply defined, and his features were clear and distinct. He looked more mature now than he had in his carefree youth.

"It's probably just a sprain."

His voice was mild. Wen Yuecheng clenched her hands on her skirt. "Thank you... Dr. Chi."

Hearing her call him that, Chi Yu glanced up. Someone beside him introduced her. "This is Yuecheng, the little swan of our dance troupe."

Wen Yuecheng quietly worked up her courage, ready to introduce herself, when his dark, deep eyes turned toward her

"Mm. I know."

At that moment, Wen Yuecheng's heart skipped wildly out of rhythm.

After all these years since graduation, she never imagined she'd meet Chi Yu again, much less that he would remember her.

At a party, Wen Yuecheng had a little too much to drink. She sat alone in a corner, eyes reddened as she stared blankly at her phone.

A friend's singing drifted into her ears.

"Loving you is a lonely secret,

I can't guess how you really feel,

I can't stop imagining forever for us."

Her nose stinging, she finally sent him a message: [I hope you find the courage to win that girl over, Chi Yu. You'll be happy.]

After sending it, she turned off her phone with red-rimmed eyes. Beneath the brilliant lights, her nine-year secret crush finally came to an end.

But before the party ended, Chi Yu arrived in a rush. He walked through the crowd toward the person in the corner, his handsome features shrouded in coldness.

Wen Yuecheng was already drunk. Chi Yu said nothing as he gathered her into his arms. When he saw the tear tracks at the corners of her eyes, his Adam's apple bobbed.

"Was I really not obvious enough?"

One day after they separate, Jiang Linchen stands beside his car with a cigarette between his fingers, wrapped in a long coat against the cold. It looks as if he's been waiting all night.

"Are you feeling better?"

The man's voice is a little hoarse, but Liang Mo only looks at him quietly, keeping her distance.

"Have you signed the divorce papers?"

Snow falls thickly. The unfamiliar distance and coldness in her eyes pierce Jiang Linchen's heart.
