Xu Qingzhi had just returned the book Love Letter by Shunji Iwai when she brushed past Lu Xingzhi, who had run into the library.
At the very top of a pile of books waiting to be shelved, Lu Xingzhi spotted Love Letter. He opened it to the first page, where the library card bore Xu Qingzhi's name.
Still in their second year of high school, in the classroom.
Xu Qingzhi was taking part in a film club activity. She and the other members screened Love Letter.
Lu Xingzhi searched several classrooms before finally finding the film club.
The version of the film they watched then was still quite blurry.
From the back of the classroom, Lu Xingzhi spotted Xu Qingzhi sitting in the front row, surrounded by a sea of people.
