Daoist Priest, Please Stop Showing Off Your Powers

Reader’s Guide: This is classical xianxia in the style of Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio, the author’s favorite. It doesn’t use a cultivation-system framework; one cultivates the Dao through insight alone. The protagonists won’t suffer. Just switch your brain off and enjoy the ride. Updates daily at nine in the morning, following the rankings. Here’s the blurb: After transmigrating to another world, Zhang Yunjian is barely alive. A matricide case gives him a glimpse into one corner of the world. In this world, some cultivate their hearts, some cultivate their practice, and some... cultivate their fate. When faith and incense offerings begin to twist the very nature of the “gods,” who can break free? The fragments of ten heavenly books hide the secret of ascension. Zhang Yunjian follows the clues and uncovers the truth, only to discover that the mortal world is nothing more than a “god’s” chessboard, and he is the one piece that slipped away! Ha! The “gods” seek immortality! So do demons! Why shouldn’t I seek it too?! If true immortals still exist in this world, then he, Zhang Yunjian, will be one of them! (Alternate blurb) With a glance, comprehend every law of heaven and earth. With one sword stroke, overturn the sun, moon, and universe! Zhang Yunjian wakes up one day to find himself a lame beggar lying in a temple of the Judge of the Dead, surrounded by corpses. In this unfamiliar world, all living beings seek the Dao. Naturally, he wants his own share of opportunity too. The Judge’s brush falls, foxes and ghosts wed... Countless supernatural events seem perfectly ordinary when they happen to him. Wearing a tattered Daoist robe and carrying half a peachwood sword, Zhang Yunjian wanders alone through the mortal world and becomes a true immortal in the world of mortals. Theme: All things are governed by fate, and every cause and effect ultimately returns to oneself.
