My Substitute Boyfriend

Jason Todd spent nearly a year buried in the lightless depths beneath Arkham. Just as he was about to forget who he was, she appeared.

She wore a beautiful blue dress and had long, brilliant golden hair. She said her name was Alice.

"You are my Jason." Her golden hair shone with a light that illuminated everything.

He trembled, crazed with longing, yearning to draw every bit of warmth from her. She was his only sun.

She wasn't someone who had stumbled into Wonderland. She was the only light in Wonderland, but he could never be her Mad Hatter.

"You aren't my Jason." She tenderly caressed his cheek, yet her words plunged him into winter's chill.

From beginning to end, he could only ever be someone else's substitute.

Furious, he wanted to find himself again.

But in the end, he discovered that he was perfectly content to be his counterpart's substitute.

Even if she didn't love him, he still wanted to stay by her side.

1. Angst, angst.

2. Angst, angst.

3. This really is an angst story.
